Who
are you guys making this game?
We are a bunch of students at the Computer Science & Engineering
section of Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg,
Sweden. We been here for 3-4 years and have reached various
degrees of proximity to our graduation. All of us are however
interested in making games and producing cool things. You
can find our names and email-addresses on the 'Contacts' page.

Why
are you doing this?
It started as a compulsory project during the third year of
our education. We got to do a 3d-game there, but since we
made bold plans while suffering from delusions of grandure,
we did not manage to implement all the cool things we wanted
to. Moreover, we had an even larger wishlist once the project
was completed. Finally, we wanted to make a 'real' game out
of it, not just a technology demo. Thus, Reaper 2 was born.

What
platforms does it run on?
We have aimed for platform independence, which means that
it supports any platform we have access that fulfills our
not-so-modest hardware requirements, and supporting more platforms
is quite easy. However, our main hardware platform is PC-compatibles
where we develop on both Windows(98/NT/2000/XP) and Linux.
We also run on Sun Workstations (preferably ultra-30+ with
a nice graphics board), however the graphics hardware on those
machines are not really meant to run games, and thus performance
is lacking. We are investigating into this and hope to get
it running better in the future (i.e. more than 10 fps).

What
are the hardware requirements?
128 mb memory, ~350 Mhz and a OpenGL 1.1 compliant graphics
card with hardware T&L and ~300 Mpixels fillrate (nVidia GeForce
256 works just fine, anything below that, and you'd better
have a fast CPU). You can of course run it on anything that
supports OpenGL 1.1, but be prepared to see the game in slow
motion (if you turn off texturing/lighting etc, it's not that
bad actually).

So,
you fly around in a space ship and shoot stuff, what else?
Not much actually. Apart from the plot setting of you being
a disillusioned student who goes mercenary and enlists for
a greedy megacorporation which pillages undeveloped planets
and their habitants for resources, you are - basically - flying
around and shooting stuff. We know this isn't much, but since
Hollywood tends to make profit on even worse things and ID
Software has gotten away with nothing more for the last decade,
we figured our plot to be good enough. You do get to play
the bad guy who causes lot's of carnage, which means you won't
have a whole bunch of morality stuff forced down your throat.

This
is cool! Can I help you guys?
It depends. We really need art people that can produce levels,
textures, models, sounds and other things. So if you know
Maya like the back of your hand (or another program, and can
convert your models to our homegrown file format) you are
welcome. If you feel that you would like to contribute with
code instead, it may be possible. We use ANSI C++, so you
need to know your way around there. Whether you use Linux
or Windows doesn't matter, we support both gcc/vc++.
